Your Face is Worth Money

We all talk about the day technology makes money obsolete. We kick around the ideas of credit chips/cards. Today we are even swiping our phones to pay for items.  China is taking it a little further. In a program that started last year and funded by the conglomerate Ali Baba, the Chinese can go to KFC and pay using their face.

A combination of facial recognition technology and registering your phone number with a system allows you to pay with your face. Obviously we can see the benefit of using this technology. Facial recognition could help us find criminals or track large crowds and identify non peaceful participants.

While the benefits are plenty, we should make sure we don't roll something out too soon. Identity theft is high. Now we have thrown down the gauntlet on a new form of identity theft, stealing your face.
